Education
Empowering children through access to quality education.
WAHATANA
Founded in April 2020, WEI emerged in response to one of Nigeria’s most urgent humanitarian emergencies — providing timely, strategic, and compassionate interventions in communities often overlooked and underserved. Since our inception, we have remained steadfast in our mission: to empower, uplift, and restore dignity to those who need it most.
At Wahatana Empowerment Initiative (WEI), we focus on what matters most.
empowering women, protecting children, and rebuilding lives.
Empowering children through access to quality education.
Accessible, inclusive healthcare for all.
Helping women achieve financial independence.
Advocating for safety and human rights.
Combating hunger, nourishing futures.
Clean water and sanitation for healthy living.
Greening communities, protecting tomorrow.
we believe that every woman and child deserves the chance to live with dignity, security, and opportunity — no matter their circumstances. Operating in northeastern Nigeria, where communities face the devastating impacts of conflict, displacement, poverty, and climate change, we are a source of hope and transformation.
Through practical, innovative, and deeply compassionate programs, we work every day to restore lives, rebuild futures, and uplift those who need it most.
WEI is a nonprofit humanitarian organization focused on empowering vulnerable women and children in northeastern Nigeria. We provide support through education, health, economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, WASH, protection, and nutrition — helping communities recover from conflict, poverty, and displacement.
There are many ways to support us! You can make a donation, become a volunteer, partner with us, or raise awareness by sharing our mission. Every contribution — big or small — helps change lives and build stronger communities.
We currently work in Adamawa State, with active programs in Michika, Hong, and Yola North. With more support, we plan to expand into underserved areas of Borno and Yobe states where the need is critical.
100% of your donation goes directly into our programs — supporting education, food aid, business grants for women, clean water access, health services, and environmental restoration. We’re committed to transparency, accountability, and real impact.
Anyone with a heart to serve can volunteer — students, professionals, retirees, and community members. We offer both field and remote opportunities in education, health, administration, event planning, outreach, and more.
At Wahatana Empowerment Initiative (WEI), we work where help is needed most — in conflict-affected, hard-to-reach communities across northeastern Nigeria, where poverty, displacement, and insecurity have disrupted lives and futures.
Our operations are rooted in the belief that no woman or child should be left behind, no matter how remote their village or how complex their situation.
With proven impact in Adamawa, WEI is now preparing to expand programs into Borno and Yobe States, targeting communities that remain underserved and highly vulnerable due to years of insurgency.
Our goal is to reach over 100+ communities by 2027 — delivering locally rooted, lasting solutions that restore dignity, build resilience, and inspire transformation.
Where we work is defined not just by geography, but by need. And wherever that need exists, WEI will be there — with heart, with hope, and with action.
